Erik first started dancing when he was five years old, and quickly fell in love with it. Since then, he has trained at numerous schools across the Lower Mainland in ballet, contemporary, modern dance, and pas de deux; most recently at Pacific Dance Arts in Vancouver under Li Yaming. Erik successfully completed his Advanced 2 Royal Academy of Dance Examination in classical ballet during his high school years. He has also attended the Royal Winnipeg Ballet School’s Summer Session on a scholarship, and was invited to become a full-time student of the school’s prestigious Professional Division. Erik has extensive performance experience in productions of full-length classical ballets, as well as in shorter works at local performances and community events. He has performed in ballets such as “Cinderella,” “Hansel and Gretel,” and “The Nutcracker;” performed major roles in shorter classical pieces such as the “Paquita Grand Pas” and the “Swan Lake Pas de Trois;” and also performed in multiple contemporary works. He has appeared as a guest performer dancing in Calvin Dycke’s “Songs, Strings, and Steps,” and has also performed numerous classical variations from ballets such as “Swan Lake,” “Giselle,” “La Bayadère,” and “Le Corsaire.” Over the years, Erik has spent a long time working with children of all ages in dance classes, children’s camps, and organizing summer children’s programs. He will be training and performing with Vancouver based Coastal City Ballet in the fall of 2015 and looks forward to sharing his love of ballet with the Dance FX students.
